Informative Speech Topic Guidelines
Choose a topic that gives insight into a culture that you are either an active member of, or are interested in researching. This culture does not have to be limited to a given nationality and can deal with any current or historical culture.
The purpose of this speech is TO INFORM the audience about what your chosen culture is, what it means to be a part of the given culture, and the impact the culture has or had on the world at large.
Visual aids are encouraged.
Requirements for this speech include:
An outline of your speech that is to be handed in on the day you are assigned to give your presentation (See example in textbook).
A speech with an introduction, body, and conclusion that should be 5 to 7 minutes in length.
3 to 5 sources that must be cited orally as well as listed in a bibliography in your outline (The textbook does not count toward the minimum of 3 sources, but will count as a fourth or fifth source).
Cultures, as topics can include: any national or ethnic culture; any historical culture; any professional culture; recreational cultures; sports cultures; or general sub-cultural groups.
