You will be reading a chapter from the attached PDF File so there is a chapter and question in the attached PDF. The chapter focuses on western expansion in the early United States and how Andrew Jackson was symbolic of western settlement.  
In this chapter the authors of the book want to address:  how do historians use theses to better understand the past?  What are some of the shortcomings of a grand thesis like Frederick Jackson Turner’s? 
 
So first you need to read chapter 6, and then answer the following 3 questions:

Discuss Turners thesis. Why was it a significant thesis? What prevailing assumptions did it challenge?
How is the thesis a product of Turners time (i.e. how was it influenced by ideas and events that were prominent around the time it was produced)?
What was the topic of Thomas Abernethys research? What did his research conclude, and what was its effect on Turners theory?

Each answer should be a few paragraphs long and fully answer all parts of the question.
