The are Instructions from my teacher:
Review Power Points slides attached below
Students will select a topic from Chapters 8 & 9 to investigate further. Specifically, you will select one or more acute adaptations of the respiratory system in response to exercise/ physical activity. Refine your topic by considering the physiologic responses (e.g. stimulation of ___, cause of ____, or purpose of____) and what is of interest to you.
Topic examples: pulmonary ventilation, breathing irregularities, ventilatory equivalent for oxygen, ventilatory equivalent for carbon dioxide, ventilatory threshold, maximal voluntary ventilation, exercise-induced arterial hypoxemia, acid-base regulation.
Example of a refined topic: How does the valsalva maneuver facilitate heavy resistance training?
Another example: What is the utility of the ventilatory equivalent for carbon dioxide in exercise training/programming?
Find one peer-reviewed research article discussing your research statement/question.You can Utilize the CU library databases to facilitate your search. An original research article is best; this means the article includes an investigatory protocol in the Methods section. Reviews and meta-analyses are not ideal but will be acceptable for this assignment. If you need help of have questions do not hesitate to reach out.
Once you find an article, ensure it is relatively recent (published after 2017) and you can obtain a PDF download of the article for free.
Read your article and be sure to take notes throughout your reading. You may need to read the article several times to fully understand what it is the researchers are investigating and discussing.
Write a one-page article summary of your selected peer-reviewed article. Be sure to include the important components of any peer-reviewed article (e.g. Purpose/purpose statement, methods & demographics, results/outcomes, discussion/conclusions). If the article is a review, be sure to provide the important concepts/pieces of information discussed.
Write concisely. This assignment requires you to provide the most important components of a research article within one-page. Writing concisely will provide the reader with the information they need to understand the entire article.
