This is a Two part Assignment. A sample of my Dissertation Section is attached. Attached also is a template to follow, especially for section 2.
Continue to work on your draft of Section 2 based on the requirements listed in your ADE Proposal and Manuscript Template (school-specific) and the feedback and direction provided by your Chair.
Part 1: This week, you will prepare the following subsections of Section 2: Please see dissertation template section 2, which is attached.
Introduction
Design and Method
Introduction Subsection
Begin this section with a verbatim restatement of the first few sentences of your problem and purpose statements. Do not repeat the entire subsections.
Provide a brief overview of the section. This overview should address the various Section 2 subsections as outlined in your ADE Proposal and Manuscript Template (school-specific).
Note: The Introduction does not have a heading.
Design and Method Subsection
Begin with the subsection heading as it is illustrated in your school-specific ADE Proposal and Manuscript Template (school-specific).
Provide an overview of the design selected for the proposed Doctoral Project or Dissertation-in-Practice.
Elaborate upon the appropriateness of the design and method for practice-based work.
Explain how the design and method choices suit the problem, purpose, and questions of your Doctoral Project or Dissertation-in-Practice.
Identify alternative designs and methods and indicate why they were determined to be less appropriate than the ones you selected. Do not simply list and describe designs and methods in general.
Length: 2-3 pages, not including title and reference pages
References: All citations must have corresponding references in correct APA format. These references eventually will be included in the References page of your ADE Proposal and Manuscript Template (school-specific). Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University’s Academic Integrity Policy.
Part 2: This week, you will prepare the following subsections of Section 2:
Population and Sample
Materials and Instrumentation
Population and Sample Subsections
Begin with the section heading, as illustrated in your ADE Proposal and Manuscript Template (school-specific).
Describe the population, including the estimated size and relevant characteristics. The population is anyone who could potentially participate in your Doctoral Project or Dissertation-in-Practice based on your inclusion criteria.
Explain why the population is appropriate, given the Doctoral Project or Dissertation-in-Practice problem, purpose, and questions. Cite sources to support your explanation.
Describe the sampling method to be used and the minimum sample size to be obtained. Explain how the sampling procedures align with the chosen design and method.
For qualitative studies, the evidence must be presented for data saturation to be achieved.
For quantitative studies, a power analysis must be reported to include the parameters (e.g., effect size, alpha, beta, number of groups) included and evidence of the minimum sample size expected for rigorous analysis.
Explain why the sample is appropriate, given the Doctoral Project or Dissertation-in-Practice problem, purpose, and questions. Cite sources to support your explanation.
Identify the site when discussing the sample. Remember to use general terms rather than specific names of individuals, organizations, towns, or cities; the names of states and geographic regions are acceptable.
Materials and Instrumentation Subsection
Describe the instruments (e.g., tests, questionnaires, observation protocols) to be used. For quantitative instruments, you must include information on their origin and evidence of their reliability and validity. For any instrument you are using from another source, you must include evidence that permission was granted to use the instrument(s).
Describe in detail any field test, expert review, or pilot study of instruments to include their results and any subsequent instrument modifications. Pilot studies often require IRB determination. Verify with the IRB whether permission is needed or a pilot application needs to be completed. Review IRB materials and consult with your Chair if a pilot study is considered. In addition to consulting your Chair, you can also email the IRB directly at [email protected]. As a reminder, you cannot collect data or contact potential participants prior to receiving IRB determination.
