Purpose: To help you learn how to successfully prepare for and complete an interview. To accomplish this purpose, you will research and write a short paper about an organization that you hope to work for someday. You will also prepare for and complete a mock interview with your instructor. You should use both the details in this assignment, the resources available on Canvas, and chapter 4 of your textbook to help you prepare for this assignment.
Assignment: (Part 1) To conduct research on a company that you would like to work for in the future and write a short 1-2 page paper on this research. (Part 2) To complete a 5-6 minute mock interview via Zoom on the day and time indicated by your instructor.
Skills: The interview assignment is designed to help you practice skills that will also be used to secure internships and employment throughout your college and your professional career. In this assignment you will:
Conduct research on a company/organization that you hope to work for someday (Chapter 4)
Write a short paper including information about that organization that you have found through your research
Consider and practice how to adapt and apply your communication for a formal interview (Chapter 4)
Identify and practice delivery skills best suited for interviewing (Chapter 4)

Part 1 Company Research Paper: To complete this assignment, you should:
Research any organization that you would like to work for someday. This could be an organization that you are looking to secure a job at in the short term, or an organization you are interested in working for in the long term.
As you conduct research, write a 1-2 page paper answering as many questions as you can to the following:
1. Name of company
2. Location(s)/contact information
3. Companys mission statement
4. Companys history
5. Any relevant news about the company
6. Name of person in charge of hiring/head of the department
7. Past/present/future company projects
8. Desired job
9. Description of duties
10. Skills/abilities/personality characteristics of the ideal candidate for this job
Format your paper using 12-point font, Times New Roman. Include a header with your name, date, COMM 1100- section number, and the title Company Research Paper.
Submit this paper to the Interview Assignment marked on Canvas by the due date
Part 2 Mock Interview To complete this assignment, you should:
Sign-up for one, five-minute slot during the Interview Assignment week to complete your mock interview via Zoom with your instructor.
Review the Instructor Evaluation form to understand how you are being graded on this assignment. Be sure to consider your first impression – lighting, sound, posture, eye contact, and dress all count towards your grade.
Log into the Zoom meeting 5 minutes before your scheduled time
Be prepared to answer 23 questions of the instructors choosing. The instructors questions will be based on the Interview Questions list provided on Canvas.
Use the STAR method outlined on Canvas when asked a behavioral question. Be prepared to ask one question of the interviewer based on the document 10
