MEMO PROJECT
The entire proposal assignment includes one memo document and two supporting documents: a topic outline with an APA references list, and the tentative project schedule document (both are below). They are all due at the same time as one unified submission. Step 1 is to complete the outline plan document and to gather 4-5 credible sources. Step 2 is to compete the project schedule document (which week each report element is to be completed by). Step 3 is to draft and revise the memo.

Please construct a topic proposal in preparation for your technical report project. Follow the template shown on the next page below.
1. Type and format the proposal in the form of a memo (page two).
2. 1- to 2-page maximum for the written memo portion; 1 pg planner, 1 pg schedule.
3. Include information asked for in each section of the memo template below (p. 2).
4. Single-space the paragraphs in each section and double-space between sections.
5. Use 11- or 12-point typeface. Use Times New Roman font.

Introduction
Introduce your proposed report topic with a concise, specific project title. Briefly discuss why you have chosen the topic. For example, has an interest, a question, a problem, or a practical need led to you choosing the topic?
Purpose
What is your research objective? Explain the purpose (the why and who) of your report. In other words, briefly explain what will the report will attempt to dodescribe a process or technology for an audience, persuade, solve a problem, argue, inform, educate, convince, inform an understanding about, etc. Also, identify the intended audience of your report (a primary and, optionally, a secondary audience if any).
Scope & References
Identify the scope (focus) and parameters of your proposed topic. Explain which major subtopic ideas or questions (two to three) and which minor subtopic ideas or questions (six to nine) will be addressed in your report and why. Explain which subtopic ideas or questions, if any, will not be addressed in your report and why.
Include an attached outline of your proposed report along with a properly formatted IEEE references list of 4-5 credible research sources that you intend to use for the project.

Background
Conduct some preliminary research to identify relevant background information on your topic and, in one paragraph, summarize the information. [1] For example, when and how did your overall topic begin? Who or what influenced your topics early development? Have any significant developments or innovations occurred within your topics early development leading up to where you plan to take up the topic? This section requires research and IEEE style in-text citations [2].
Relevancy & Feasibility
Briefly explain why the information you intend to obtain is important for you to gather and learn about. In other words, how is your proposed topic relevant to your program of studies or field of work and, in turn, relevant to your audience? Discuss why the topic is feasible. For example, have you assessed the project and created a sound research plan that will challenge you? Have you found credible resources to draw on for the projects development? Explain. Are there any possible limitations or challenges to face in developing the project or in conducting research for the report? How might you deal with any challenges?
Schedule Briefly introduce your attached project timeline schedule and indicated that the schedule is attached. If you are working in pairs, explain how you will divide the researching, drafting and revising tasks of each report section. Specifically, explain who will lead each report section and when (attach a completed project log schedule document)?
