Introduction
The healthcare system requires constant quality improvement to ensure that incidents and deaths are prevented from occurring in the hospital. Vanderbilt University Medical Center believes in constant quality improvement to ensure that mistakes are prevented while offering the best services to patients. Establishing quality improvement initiatives improves patient care services to meet patients needs. In this evaluation, a summary of quality improvement projects on complication and death prevention at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is discussed. A detailed discussion on health quality technology (HIT) and its application in improving quality and reducing incidents is discussed. Also, the assessment discusses how HIT can be incorporated into the hospital’s strategic plan and how the effectiveness of the technology can be determined.
