various research processes. The quantitative research tools are characterized by a number of factors,

The commonly used research tool in quantitative research surveys. In quantitative surveys, there is the
use of dichotomous questions, multiple choice answers, dropdowns, rank order scale, rating scales,
multiple-choice grid and checklists. Firstly, the dichotomous questions are usually answered with “yes or
no” responses. The multiple questions give the respondents a variety of answers to choose from. For the

company based upon a seven-point rating scale. Unlike the rating scales, the semantic differential scale
doesn’t have a neutral selection. Also, the staple scale usually asks questions to rate a brand or a
product according to particular characteristics on a scale from +5 to -5. Quantitative research also uses
demographic questions especially in identifying characteristics such as age, gender, income, race,
residence, marital status among others. These questions usually aid in determining the target
population which is relevant to the research. In other cases, checklists can be used to gather data in
quantitative research. The checklist can contain a list of characteristics required for the study such as
